about

Recorded in my home studio

lyrics

Living on the backside of the desert
As the sun sinks, giving way to night
Sometimes it feels as if my best days are behind me
At the wrong gate waiting for my flight

It’s a “better late than never,” revelation
That I’m not quite as important as I thought
The demand for my supply has all but vanished
With the praise and accolades my flesh sought

CHORUS 1
But I’m holding to the truth His love’s unchanging
In every season, He’s faithful and right
Lord, help this weary traveler to remember in the dark
All that You’ve shown me in the light

This might sound a bit depressing
But I’m not trying to drum up sympathy
It’s just a long overdue evaluation
A hard look in the mirror called honesty

Though painful, it’s kind of liberating
To let the pretense and the image building cease
To trust in the goodness of my Shepherd
Decreasing that He might increase

CHORUS 2
And I’m holding to the truth His love’s unchanging
In every season, He’s faithful and right
Lord, help this weary traveler to remember in the dark
All that You’ve shown me in the light

Lord, help me to see from Your perspective
The hidden things that wait to be revealed
This desert place serves Your holy purpose
You’re making it into a fruitful field

So, I will embrace the backside of the desert
Knowing each one You use must pass this way
As my soul learns to sing it becomes a flowing spring
You’re near and that’s enough for me today.

CHORUS 3
So, I’m holding to the truth Your love’s unchanging
In every season, You’re faithful and right
Lord, help this weary traveler to remember in the dark
All that You’ve shown me in the light
Lord, help this weary traveler to remember in the dark
All that You’ve shown me in the light
All that You’ve shown me in the light
