This song was inspired by my friend Noel Cookman. He said he wanted someone to write a song with this title, so I took it upon myself to do it. Some of my old bandmates from my first band joined me on this one, Sue Nesmith, Drummer, Dr. Rodney Graham, and Producer and bass player, the late Chris Teasley.

Set Your Sails

Verse 1:
I've been sailing on this journey for so many years
With a strong conviction and fervent heart my destination clear
The ocean is deep but my goal is high
I'm pressing on to the other side
The wind in my sails will take me there

Verse 2:
When I set sail my Captain gave me everything I'd need
I made a commitment I would follow wherever He would lead
But there are times the wind is still
I'm tempted to let down my sails
But that's when I hear my Captain say to me

Chorus 1:
I want you to set your sails to the wind of the Spirit
Let My presence be your guide
When the stormy waves rock your boat
My lovingkindness will keep you afloat
Just set your sails and let the wind blow

Through the years we have weathered so many storms
If you look closely you can see these sails are ripped and worn
But through all the repairs and provision
I hold to the same sweet vision
To hear my Captain say, "My son, well done!"
